Barnes is admitted to practice in California state court and the United States District Courts for the Southern, Central, and Northern Districts of California. He is a member of the Longshore Claims Association, the Maritime Law Association, and the Association of Certified Anti Money Laundering Specialists and has passed the FINRA Series 3, 31, and 66 examinations. He has also presented at and prepared compendiums for the Pacific Admiralty Seminar, Maritime Law Association, and Loyola Longshore Conference. He has published by the Loyola Maritime Law Journal. Brown Admiralty Moot Court Competition for which he presently assists in the judging. Barnes was a Senior Editor for the University of San Francisco Maritime Law Journal and competed in the Judge John R. His practice consists of representing companies and insurance carriers in defense of liability claims, including maritime claims (personal injury, cargo, general maritime law, coverage, allision/collision, ship repair), claims arising under the Longshore and Harbor Workers’ Compensation Act and its extensions (Defense Base Act, Outer Continental Shelf Lands Act, Non-Appropriated Funds Instrumentalities Act) as well as companies and their officers in directors in securities, fiduciary duty, intellectual property, unfair competition/antitrust, and other business and commercial litigation.Īt USF, Mr. from University of San Francisco School of Law.
